The Visual Narrative of Samsara is a visual art project rooted in the ancient Buddhist concept of the Six Realms of Rebirth — a cycle of existence shaped by karma, desire, and suffering. My aim is to reinterpret these spiritual ideas through contemporary illustration, infusing symbolic imagery with emotion, metaphor, and personal reflection.
This project explores each realm — Deva (Gods), Asura (Demigods), Human, Animal, Hungry Ghost, and Hell — as both a spiritual state and a mirror of human psychology. Rather than depicting them through traditional iconography, I chose to build original characters and environments that express the emotional essence of each realm.
Through this work, I invite viewers to reflect on the cycles within their own lives — the repetitive patterns, emotional highs and lows, and the tension between control and surrender.
The process involved research into Buddhist philosophy, character design, and visual storytelling. I developed a series of illustrations and narrative sketches that form a visual journey through Samsara — not as a static concept, but as something deeply alive and relevant to our modern world.
This is not just a story of reincarnation, but of recognition — a mirror to our struggles, desires, and moments of awakening.
